With the start of another year, lawyers from all over Brazil turn their attention to financial planning and, among the commitments on the calendar, is the payment of the OAB annual fee .
In addition to financing the Order's activities, the annual fee covers training programs, assistance to lawyers and the maintenance of ethics and prerogatives courts, among other benefits to the category.
An analysis of the last 10 years reveals significant changes in the amounts charged by the branches. With variations that reflect both local economic challenges and administrative management, the adjustments accumulated since 2015 require financial planning to fulfill this commitment.
Outlook from 2015 to 2025
Over the last decade, the annual fees for OAB sections have increased by more than 30% in some cases. A survey conducted by Migalhas details the fees charged in 2015 and 2025, allowing us to observe the variation in each state.

On the other hand, the TO section, which had one of the highest annual fees in 2015 (R$900), is the only one that reduced the amount, setting it at R$799 this year.
Among the sections that increased their annual fees the most proportionally in the last decade, the RO stands out, which rose from R$693 to R$1,021 (47% increase) and PI, with a 38% adjustment . SP and MG remained among the states with more moderate adjustments.
When consulting the Central Bank, it is possible to observe that the correction by the IGP-M in the same period accumulated a variation of 115.86%. The correction of value by the savings account was 77.56% and by the IPCA it was 76.25% .
The Future of Annuities
As the legal profession faces new challenges, the OAB seeks to balance the need to maintain the financial sustainability of its operations with the affordability of annual fees.
In this scenario, the OAB approved , this week, the establishment of an internal procedure to study and regulate a national policy for granting discounts and exemptions from annual fees. The measure will be debated by the College of Sectional Presidents and, subsequently, deliberated by the Plenary Council.
The decision comes amid demands from lawyers, especially in states where campaign promises included proposals to eliminate annual fees.
As 2025 approaches, professionals are pushing for these promises to be fulfilled.

With the start of the new year and the end of the recess just around the corner, lawyers from all over Brazil are already starting to plan for yet another financial commitment: paying their annual OAB dues.
A survey carried out by Migalhas annually revealed that, in 2025, eight sections readjusted the amounts charged, while 17 chose to maintain the 2024 prices. Two other sections have not yet released the resolution with the amounts for 2025.
However, it is worth paying attention: some sections, despite not adjusting the value, have cut the discounts that previously helped ease the burden on the pocket.
The OAB annual fee is one of the sources of funds to finance the entity's activities, such as assistance to lawyers, courses and training programs, and maintenance of ethics and prerogatives courts.
Recently, the Federal Council of the Order approved a proposal to establish an internal procedure to study and regulate a national policy for granting discounts and annual fee exemptions.
Who raised and who held
Among the 27 sections, the eight that applied adjustments were: AL, MA, MG, PR, RJ, RR, SE and SP.
Meanwhile, two sections have not yet disclosed how much lawyers will need to spend next year, they are: MT and RN.
The other states maintained the 2024 price. It is important to highlight that, in some of these sections, the discounts previously offered for advance payment or other payment methods were withdrawn.
Keep an eye on the discount!
For lawyers who want to guarantee a reduced price, pay attention to the discounts applied for advance payments within the deadline stipulated by each section.
In this format, among the cheapest are the annual fees for TO, for R$671 (until 3/15), PB, for R$680 (until 2/28), and DF, for R$700 (until 1/30).
Among the highest are the values of RJ, at R$1,194 (until 10/1), PR, at R$1,047 (until 10/2), and GO, at R$1,015 (until 7/2).

The values without discount of the annual fees continue to show great disparity between the sections, reflecting the economic and administrative particularities of each State.
The survey reveals significant variation between the sections, with the difference between the highest and lowest amounts reaching almost R$500. The highest annual fee is that of the OAB/RJ, in which lawyers will pay R$1,194 if they pay in full this year. Next come the annual fees of the OAB/RR (R$1,150) and the OAB/GO (R$1,128).
At the other end, the TO section maintains the lowest value, charging R$799. Besides it, only the DF and PE have annual fees below R$800.
