FLOODS IN BRAZIL
Images of hope amid tragedy! Volunteers were caught making a 'human chain' to save stranded residents amid the floods in Rio Grande do Sul (RS).
The images were captured in the Mathias neighborhood, in Canoas. In the scenes, it is possible to see residents forming a “human cordon” to pull boats and carry out rescues.
As they save the victims, applause and shouts of happiness are heard. In the midst of the tragedy that the state is experiencing, scenes like these warm our hearts and show that together we are stronger!
The images go viral on Instagram and show an example of unity to overcome adversity.
With the neighborhood's streets completely flooded, residents found a super effective way to help the boat with the rescued victims move.
Several of them joined hands, forming a long chain of people. Then, with the strength of their union, they pulled the boats by a long rope.
This way, it was possible to move through the floods and help as many victims as possible.
Residents celebrate
Several residents were also on the roofs and balconies of the houses and with each boat that was pulled by the current, a hail of celebrations could be heard.
The volunteers hugged each other and it was possible to hear several applauses and shouts of celebration.
