Former federal deputy Roberto Jefferson (PTB-RJ) was admitted to the prison system and is being held in the José Frederico Marques prison, in Benfica, in the north of Rio de Janeiro, on the morning of this Monday, 24th, after having surrendered and was arrested last Sunday night, 23. He awaits the custody hearing, which should be held this Monday. A supporter of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Jefferson fired several rifle shots and threw three grenades at the Federal Police on Sunday, when agents went to his residence to comply with an arrest order issued by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court. and also president of the Superior Electoral Court, which revoked the ex-deputy's house arrest and asked that he be taken to jail. The shooting left two officers wounded. Jefferson was not authorized to bear arms. The arrest warrant for Moraes was issued by the former deputy for violating house arrest measures, but, following the armed attacks, a new warrant was issued on the flagrant charge of attempted murder.
