Governor of São Paulo, Rodrigo Garcia (PSDB)
This Friday, 14th, was celebrated 52 years of Rondas Ostensivas Tobias de Aguiar (ROTA). The event took place at the first riot police battalion in the State of São Paulo, in the capital of São Paulo. Authorities such as Governor Rodrigo Garcia (PSDB), the mayor of the capital Ricardo Nunes (MDB) and the president of the State Legislative Assembly, Carlos Eduardo Pignatari (PSDB), were present and received the medal “Ostensivas Tobias de Aguiar”. In a speech, Garcia praised the role of the troop, which is part of the general command of the Military Police: “Rota means less criminals on the street, less drugs on the street and more security for families in São Paulo. This is what we all want, that we have a State of order, peace and a State that allows our society to evolve, do its work and continue with public safety”. Speaking to the press, Garcia also reiterated his support in the second round of elections for President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and the candidate for the Bandeirantes Palace linked to him, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans). “We are planning for next week a big meeting of mayors, with the presence of Tarcísio and Bolsonaro, then we will talk about it at the right time”, he declared. Garcia was also asked about the possibility of leaving the PSDB, but said he had no reason to leave the caption.
The mayor of São Paulo also spoke at the event, highlighting the role of Rota over the years. “Great gratitude to the veterans who built this fantastic history of Rota, which has become one of the most recognized institutions in our country and the world. I wish you dignity above all, may God bless and always accompany you in your mission, may you be happy and effective in the fight against crime, which torments workers so much”, said Nunes. The mayor also highlighted the role of women in public security: “On behalf of Elza, I would like to offer this greeting to all the women who are part of the Military Police and the importance of having this participation also in our security force”. In addition to authorities, the event also honored the civilians and institutions that supported the activities of the Route.
