Brazil registers 277 thousand new job vacancies in May and breaks a record

Brazil reached 277,018 new registered jobs in May. The positive balance is the difference between the 1,960,960 admissions and 1,683,942 dismissals in the period. The data are from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed (Caged), released this Tuesday morning (28/06) by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
According to the minister of the Ministry of Labor and Welfare, José Carlos Oliveira, since 2019 around 4,268,563 new jobs have been created. With this result, a total of 41,729,858 workers with a formal employment relationship were reached, governed by the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT), which represents a record for Brazil in the history of Caged.
The result for the month was positive in all economic sectors, especially the services sector, with a balance of 120,294 jobs. Then come the activities related to commerce (+47,557 posts); industry (+46,975 jobs); construction (+35,445 posts) and, finally, agriculture, livestock, forestry, fishing and aquaculture (+26,747 posts).
About Brazilian states, the balance was positive in the 27 units of the federation. The state of São Paulo took the lead, with a positive result of 85,659 jobs (a positive change of 0.67% compared to April); followed by Minas Gerais (+29,970 posts or +0.68%) and Rio de Janeiro (+20,226 posts, +0.61%).
The highlight among the regions of Brazil was the Southeast, with a balance of 147,846 formal jobs. Next comes the Northeast (+48,847 posts); Midwest (+33,978); South (+25,585 stations); and North (+16,091 stations). All five regions closed the month of May with a positive balance.
“The numbers presented here, by themselves, prove the effectiveness of the government's public policy for generating employment, which demonstrates the resumption of growth and the certainty that we are on the right track, that Brazil is a viable market for investments, not only national but also international investments”, highlighted the Minister of Labor and Welfare during a press conference.

From January to May 2022, the balance is 1,051,503 new vacancies. Most of the jobs created this year were in the service sector, with 658,112 new hires in the analyzed period. Then comes industry (174,781), civil construction (155,507), agriculture (49,245) and commerce (13,862).
From May 2021 to May this year, 2,655,840 new jobs were created. Regarding the period of resumption of formal employment, from July 2020 to May 2022, the balance is 5,023,943 new jobs, according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
The national average salary in May was R$ 1,898.02.
